Middle C Jazz Club -- Charlotte, NC

Alex Bugnon has been an energetic force on the contemporary music scene for nearly four decades as a renowned musician, composer, and bandleader. A two-time Soul Train Music Award winner, Bugnon has sold over one million albums worldwide, cementing his reputation as a master of soulful, groove-heavy jazz and ambassador of the “Quiet Storm”.

Growing up just miles from the world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival, Bugnon was influenced early on by his uncle, jazz legend Donald Byrd, and a friendship with Herbie Hancock. After moving to the U.S., his exposure to R&B, gospel, and funk shaped a signature sound that bridged the gap between jazz sophistication and urban grit. His 1989 debut, Love Season, was a breakout smash, skyrocketing to No. 2 on the Billboard R&B charts and earning him the Best New Artist Award from Black Radio Exclusive.

With a tour schedule that never slows, Bugnon has built a fiercely loyal global fan base. He remains a titan of the live circuit, famously surpassing Dizzy Gillespie’s record for the most appearances at the legendary Blues Alley in Washington, D.C., where his annual Thanksgiving residency has become a landmark tradition for over 20 years.
